"Talk Amongst Yourselves" Statistic of the Day

From the Economic Mobility Project's (part of the Pew Charitable Trusts) recent reports:

In 2000, the average white household in the bottom fifth of income-earners was worth $24,000. For black households, the figure was $57.

Yes, that's fifty-seven dollars.

Which statistic demonstrates exactly what? That black people don't work? That they aren't smart enough to save money? That their houses keep getting broken into, and their savings boosted by white kids who cruise their neighborhoods at night, preying on the helpless?

How many hours per week are worked by the members of "the average white household" in the bottom quntile of "income earners?" In the "average black" household?

Or is it just that there's a better class of convenience store in poor white neighborhoods?
