This Cheney, Oil Task Force, meetings, Big Oil Conspiracy story has been slithering around for quite some time now. I've never quite understood what it was supposed to be about, or why the Veep, or his staff, or Big Oil Execs would ever deny such a meeting, since it would seem rather easy to expose. (Oil Execs are rich and greedy. They're not stupid.)
The idea that there was a meeting at which it was decided . . . What?
That oil companies could charge whatever they wanted for gas? That the Government wouldn't seek to break up the American-based companies (if there is such a thing anymore) so that they'd get whompped by BP, Shell and the Chinese?
I'm perfectly willing to believe darned near anything about Big Oil, especially if it seems crooked, but I'm still not clear what this particular intersection is supposed to be about.
Yeah, so better just to keep quiet about the whole damn thing and hope it blows over until they're out of office. Right? Am I right? Eh comrades? (crickets chirping)
You seem to be missing the point: Exactly what is
"THE WHOLE DAMN THING?"
what is it that you're afraid will (but obviously hasn't yet)
"BLOW OVER?"
I had a question.
Anyone have an answer? Anyone? Bueller?
I wish I knew what "the whole damn thing" was myself, actually. I **DO** wonder, as you do, "why the Veep, or his staff, or Big Oil Execs would ever deny such a meeting." Honestly! Because, that's what they did, before Congress. Honestly!!! I, unlike many liberals, don't want to jump immediately to the conspiracy theories. But I think we ought to find out, don't you?
Does anyone else find it odd that after literally years of griping about how all the Democrats could talk about was "the run-up to the war," that seems to be all the White House is talking about now?
Anyone? Bueller?
