The History Channel did a program on the San Francisco earthquake. The main thing I remember about that program was a rather bizarre statement in the commentary. The program told of the incredible destruction, the deaths, the people left homeless, the looting, the lynching of looters, and the people sleeping in crypts that had broken open. Then, the announcer went on to state "But there was also a dark side to the San Francisco earthquake". I was too flabbergasted to catch what was described as the "dark side", compared to what, apparently, had been the "bright side" of the quake. The mind boggles.
